LASIK

LASIK (Laser-Assisted-In-Situ Keratomileusis) is currently the most common type of laser vision correction procedure. It is an extremely effective outpatient procedure that is suitable for low, moderate, and higher prescriptions. It can be used to correct severe prescriptions, and is currently one of the most commonly performed healthcare procedures in North America.

Although no medical procedure is perfect, the excimer laser allows for an unparalleled degree of precision and predictability. Each pulse of the laser can remove 39-millionths of an inch of tissue in 12-billionths of a second. This enables an experienced surgeon to achieve remarkable accuracy while maintaining excellent control throughout the procedure.

Custom LASIK - What is it?

Custom LASIK is a procedure that utilizes a wavefront analyzer to provide eye care professionals with a precise map of the eye. By detecting exactly how light passes through the eye, the analyzers produce a topographical-like diagram. This results in a truly customized procedure for each eye.

This information is then programmed into an excimer laser enabling the surgeon to further customize the LASIK procedure to each patient's eyes based on the patient's aberrations.

Custom LASIK has shown promise in treating higher-order aberrations that may contribute to night glare and halos. For many patients, Custom LASIK has resulted in an enhanced quality of vision.

The Intralase Method

The Intralase method is the 100% bladeless approach to creating your corneal flap prior to the Excimer Laser reshaping. Pulses of laser light pass through the outer layers of the cornea and form a microsopic layer of bubbles just beneath the surface. The surgeon then separates this layer to create the flap without the use of a microkeratome blade. When your LASIK reshaping is complete, the surgeon can replace the flap and it "locks" back into place to begin healing immediately.

Complimentary Consultation!

We offer complimentary consultations to help you determine if you're a good candidate for laser eye surgery (LASIK) or CRT non-surgical Corneal Refractive Therapy. We are very selective about who has the procedure because it is the right thing to do. Treating each patient with respect to their unique requirements begins with a thorough eye exam.

In general, the qualifications for laser eye surgery are: you must be at least 18 years of age, in good general health, and have no eye diseases such as cataracts or glaucoma.
